It’s a reunion, a victory celebration, a pre-graduation bash, and a concert all rolled into one. The place is the Glorietta activity center in Makati City, the date January 26, and the event, “Get Ahead Gimik @ Glorietta!,” which for the most part will be a celebration of youth, of dreams, and of the future that young people face as they go beyond their high school years and on to more challenging tasks in life.

About a thousand graduating high school students who attended review classes at Ahead Tutorial and Review Center (now Ahead Learning Systems, Inc.) plus another 1,000 guests are expected to converge at the Glorietta for a night of fun, food, music and celebration. The affair, a victory party in anticipation of their success in getting into the college or university of their choice, is expected to be one of the first major youth events of the new year.

It’s an exciting time for our young people,” says Rossana Llenado, president of Ahead Learning Systems, Inc., which is organizing the activity. “Graduation is just about two months away. They’re about to say goodbye to one world, and enter a new one. For them, it’s a time of hope. There is a sense of beginning.”

Get Ahead Gimik @ Glorietta!” will actually take on the atmosphere of a school fair at the Glorietta, with booths sponsored by different companies to be set up around the activity center. A concert featuring well-known bands Barbie’s Cradle and Cheese, with different school bands performing as front acts, will be the main attraction of the evening.

Ahead Learning Systems has even tied up with MTV Philippines to make the event a truly memorable one. The winners of the MTV VJ Hunt 2001, Anna Shier and Derek Ramsey, will be acting as emcees during the evening.

Only Ahead reviewers and their guests will be allowed entry to the cordoned off area at the activity center. The celebration, however, is open to anyone who wants to come on January 26 to enjoy the music, the festive air, and the good food available at the different establishments at the Glorietta.

It should be one good way of beginning a new year.
