During the early 90’s, there were hardly any review books for students who wanted to enter prestigious colleges and universities in the Philippines. The review references in the market then were foreign books that were geared for tests abroad.

AHEAD Tutorial and Review Center, the pioneer in Test-Based review programs for the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT), Ateneo College Entrance Test (ACET), and De La Salle University College Entrance Test (DLSUCET), decided to come up with top-of-the-line review books and guides that would aid students in strengthening their skills, preparing for college entrance tests, developing good study habits, and making school-related choices.

Thus, AHEAD Books and Things was created.

Passing college entrance exams requires a particular kind of preparation. It is one thing to know the subject matter–the what–of the UPCAT subtests which is what four years of high school was supposed to have taught you. It is another thing to master the techniques–the how–of responding to the test itself, which is what a good review is supposed to do for you.

Not everyone, however, can attend a formal review course at a good review center.

The practice exercises in this book correspond to the UPCAT subtests and are intended to help you develop the attitude and discipline needed to prepare physically and mentally for the exam.

PLANNING AHEAD is the first book of its kind in the country. It is a compilation of the many course offerings for the college student. Its detailed listings give the students and their parents an overview of the requirements of each course and the resources of each school.

This book will help students and their parents to save previous time and money. It is, in many ways, an investment for the students’ future.
